Official Guides to the City of London
The City of London is the historic heart of London with almost 2,000 years of history. Behind its street facades are alleyways with nooks, crannies and hidden depths. The only way to explore them effectively is with an experienced qualified guide who can give you unique insights about the City’s architecture, history, customs and pageant, as well as entertaining you with a fund of stories. City of London Guides complete a one year course, and pass written and practical exams, before they are awarded their badge by the Lord Mayor of London. The Course is organised by the City of London Corporation, and accredited and examined by the Institute of Tourist Guiding. City Guides wear a distinctive red, white and gold badge and they are the Official Guides to the City of London.
Our early morning walks take place every month on Wednesday mornings at 6.45am with occasional extra early tours on Thursday mornings at 6am.
Nearly all the regular walks and tours offered on this website are just turn up and pay. For these walks no advanced booking is possible. There are only two tours that need to be booked in advance (Smithfield walks and Guildhall tours) because of restricted numbers.
For more details look at the Calendar or Regular walks and tours.
If you want a walk or lecture for a group of people - ideal for special occasions, office events or birthday celebrations, then please use our Find a Guide section. This contains contact details of guides who offer walks and tours on a range of themes and topics. We have members who can provide a walk or lecture on any aspect of the City of London. This section can be searched by topic, languages offered, or by name of guide.
