Roman London Walking Tour: Wednesdays

The original City beneath our feet

What have the Romans ever done for us Londoners? Plenty!

Join our Roman guided tour and let us ‘roam’ around the City and discover a history that dates back nearly 2,000 years. Let one of our qualified City of London Guides reveal the ancient city of Londinium that lies beneath your feet.

  • Learn why the Romans founded the City of Londinium, what they bought - and what they liked to export.
  • See the site of a Roman bathhouse that’s now a pretty garden (a model of it’s in the Museum of London)
  • Discover a temple to Mithras that was only discovered after bombing in World War Two
  • Take in a view of the original Roman wall that guarded the City 1,800 years ago.

Please note: children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Daily walks from the City Information Centre start again on September 14th

We are delighted to announce the return of our daily guided walks in the heart of the City of London!  One every day of the week at 11.00 am.  All places must be booked in advance to ensure we maintain small group sizes which can be socially distanced.  We are really excited to be able to take you around the extraordinary Square Mile once more.  Full details when you click on the photos below.

Culture Corridor Walks until October 30th

Come on in to the City!  We are delighted to be working with the City Corporation on a new programme of walks starting on August 29th until October 30th. Following a carefully planned route in small groups using social distancing and technology to give you the best experience, there will be one walk each day from a borough that borders the City: Westminster (Saturdays), Lambeth (Sundays), Camden (Mondays), Islington (Tuesdays), Southwark (Wednesdays), Tower Hamlets (Thursdays), Hackney (Fridays). Thanks to support from the City of London Corporation, all are free. If you live locally, or even if you don't, this is the perfect time to explore and discover what has happened and who has walked these streets in years gone by.  The streets are very quiet so you have the chance to stop and stare without pressure.  Find out more and reserve your place by clicking on the photos below..

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the Temple Bar Trust.   You are invited to join six City Guides for series of live broadcast virtual walks around the City. The series will include the fascinating history of Temple Bar, Paternoster Square, St Pauls, the life, and work of Sir Christopher Wren and some of the wonderful but often overlooked statues and sculptures nearby.  Find out more and book here: https://templebartrust.org/walks

Note: We try to make our walks as inclusive and accessible as possible.

If you want a walk or lecture for a group of people, then please use our Find a Guide section.
