Biography

As a walking tour guide I am constantly amazed by how much there is to learn about the City of London. Our modern City sits on 2,000 years of history. Romans, Vikings and Normans have trodden these streets. Henry VIII, Dick Whittington and William Shakespeare were all here, among countless others. London has been a city of trade, immigration, culture, wealth and politics for centuries. There are mediaeval livery halls, execution sites, statues, monuments, and Wren churches. If you know where to look they can still be found amidst the dynamic modern architecture.

I love to research the stories and secrets of the Londoners who were here before us, so I can share them with you.

Qualifications

I'm a City of London Green Badge Guide, a Freeman of the City of London, and a Member of the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers.

I'm not a Cockney, but technically I could claim to be as I was born within the sound of Bow bells.

Reviews

"Mike is a natural group leader, who makes everyone feel comfortable as he shares a relaxed stream of information about London’s often hidden history. I left our guided walk feeling enriched and happy. Thoroughly recommended."

"I much enjoyed the evening walking tour of the Illuminated Bridges. Mike was such an informative guide yet wore his knowledge lightly. There was just the right amount of information given at just the right times, and I like how there were pauses to just stand and contemplate the mesmerising colour shifts."
