Biography

Licia is a qualified City of London Guide, holds an ITG Green Badge which entitles her to guide both in Italian and English and is also a Westminster Tour Guide. Born in Rome, Italy, she has become somewhat of a Londoner as she has lived and worked in London in the last 30 years.

She offers all of her tours in Italian as well as English to the general public.

Beside guiding she also teaches Italian at City Lit where she has developed a new venture called 'Italiano Camminando' (Walking Italian) offering an opportunity to learners of all ages and backgrounds to improve their knowledge of Italian, while being guided around London.

Licia has taught 'Guiding Skills Workshops' to Secondary school students from foreign countries who come to England for work-experience and to improve their English.

Beside her passion for history and architecture, she enjoys sharing her love for nature. She is and active volunteer guide for Open Garden Square Weekend and has lead Biodiversity Walks in the City for the London Walks sponsored by Tfl.

She also enjoys to share her acquired knowledge of English history through art both in the City and in Westminster.

Private and group tours are available on weekdays and weekend as required

 

 

Guided Tours

Title of Tour: Old and New Biodiversity in the Square Mile - starts Guildhall Yard - ends 1 New Change. Duration: 2 hours

Tour description: A walk through some old church yards and hidden gardens in the City, contrasting ancient Roman sites with examples of sustainable modern architecture

 

Title of Tour: In and Out of a Timeline - starts Tower Hill Underground station - ends Cannon Street Station. Duration: 2.5 hours

Tour description: A tour of some of the key sites which witnessed the change in and out of a timeline - All Hallows by the Tower with its crypt, the remains of Wren's masterpiece St Dunstan's in the East, continuing to the Monument, St Magnus the Martyr with its model of the Old London Bridge, strolling by the River Thames ending at Cannon Street Station

 

Title of Tour: City Highlights - Circular Tour: starts and ends in Guildhall Yard. Duration: 2 hours

Tour Description: Walking the many streets and alleyways which took their names from the trade which used to be carried out in the area, reaching St Paul's Cathedral, Cleary Garden and back.

 

Title of Tour: Roman London - starts Tower Hill - ends Bank Junction. Duration: 2.5 hours

Tour Description: Following the Roman Wall and discovering the footsteps left by the Romans under layers of history from many centuries, ending up in the Walbrook Valley to see the old roman roads which still run under modern architecture

 

Title of Tour: A stroll by the River Thames - starts The Monument - ends Queenhithe. Duration: 2 hours

Tour Description: Walking by the Thames recalling the time when oysters were the food of the poor, looking back at the confederation of the Hanseatic League, continuing down the beautifully tiled Fruiterers Passage under Southwark Bridge , ending at Queenhithe to admire the mosaic which tells the story of London, from the first Roman invasion to 2012 Jubilee.
