Free guided walks led by City of London Guides
The City of London is amazing and its official City Guides will help you discover its delights. The City, also known as the Square Mile, is the financial heart of London. It’s been central to British history for centuries, and contains historic buildings from many ages. Your guide will take you to fascinating places and tell stories of people, events and traditions connected with the City, including the Lord Mayor’s Show.
There are 3 different routes, allocated at random, each lasting just over an hour. They start from about 3pm, with the last walk around 4pm. Each one begins from No 1 Poultry (the large pink and white building near Mansion House), which is a few minutes from Bank and Cannon Street stations.
The routes are wheelchair friendly, with no steps and few hills, and the pace is gentle and suitable for all ages. The tours finish either near Paternoster Square (by St Paul’s) or Bloomberg Arcade, depending on which walk you take. These locations are the Festival Zones, where you can enjoy after show events.
There’s no need to book - just turn up - and the walks are free, but we’d welcome a donation to the new Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
Meeting point: No 1 Poultry, London, EC2R 8EJ
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 10 November 2018.
Nearly all the regular walks and tours offered on this website are just turn up and pay or free. For these walks no advanced booking is possible. There are only a few tours that need to be booked in advance (Smithfield Market, Leadenhall Market walks and Guildhall and the Roman Bath House tours) because of restricted numbers.
Note: tours run every day of the year except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. In exceptional circumstances we may not have a guide available and we'll let the City Information Centre know.
If you want a walk or lecture for a group of people, then please use our Find a Guide section.
